Dr. Susan Lim is a native of Singapore—she was born, raised, and mostly educated on this island nation in Southeast Asia. Singapore is a small nation composed of over sixty different islands, but it is nevertheless an important nation, serving as a financial and medical center for Asia. Dr. Susan Lim’s education began by attending the Singapore Chinese Girls’ School. After that she was able to attend, and graduate from, the Raffles Institution. In 1974 she received the opportunity to get a scholarship under the Colombo Plan. This was a regional plan for economic and social development in the Asian-Pacific region. The scholarship that was given to Dr. Susan Lim allowed her to attend school at Monash University, based out of Melbourne, Victoria, in Australia. It is the second oldest university in the state and plays host to one of the largest student bodies anywhere in Australia. Monash University is also home to a number of advanced research centers—including centers that operate in the medical field.

In 1990, Dr. Susan Lim became the first person to ever successfully complete a liver transplant on the continent of Asia. Dr. Susan Lim in 2003 founded Stem Cell Technologies. In 2004, Dr. Susan Lim was invited to become a Fellow at Trinity College at the University of Melbourne. She was both the youngest ever Fellow and the first Singaporean Fellow at Trinity College.

Dr. Susan Lim is a highly qualified surgeon based in Singapore. She was the first person to ever perform a liver transplant with success in Asia. Dr. Lim was able to accomplish that impressive feat in 1990. Dr. Susan Lim is actually from Singapore. She was born in Singapore and attended the Singapore Chinese Girls’ School and later The Raffles Institution. Dr. Susan Lim was a recipient of a scholarship under the Colombo Plan in 1974. She used this scholarship to study medicine at Monash University in Australia.

Dr. Susan Lim was the founder of a biotechnology company in 2003 that she named Stem Cell Technologies. Just a year later, in 2004, she had joined Trinity College at the University of Melbourne in Australia as a Fellow.

Dr. Susan Lim and her husband, as well as a friend of theirs, established a charity aimed at aiding underprivileged children from the South-Pacific Asian region. The charity was named the Indiapore Trust and it has contributed to improving education in the region in small ways. For example, the Raffles Junior College received a free science lab from the Indiapore Trust to help advance science education at the institution. The Indiapore Trust has, additionally, provided a lot of scholarships to children in both India and Singapore.

Dr. Susan Lim is a surgeon based in Singapore who successfully performed the first liver transplant in Asia in 1990. Susan Lim was born in Singapore and she attended Singapore Chinese Girls’ School, as well as The Raffles Institution. Under the Colombo Plan, an effort to strengthen economic and social development in the countries of the Asian Pacific region, Susan Lim was awarded a scholarship in 1974. That scholarship enabled her to study medicine at Monash University in Australia.

In 2003, Dr. Susan Lim started a biotechnology company called Stem Cell Technologies. 2004 saw Dr. Susan Lim join Trinity College at the University of Melbourne, Australia, as a Fellow. Susan Lim and her husband, along with a friend, established the Indiapore Trust, a charity aimed at helping to provide assistance to underprivileged children from countries in that region. The Indiapore Trust has donated a science laboratory to the Raffles Junior College and provided numerous scholarships to children in India and Singapore.

Dr. Susan Lim also sits on the Global Advisory Council of the International Society for Stem Cell Research 2011. Dr. Lim works at two of the premier hospitals in Singapore, Gleneagles and Mount Elizabeth. Dr. Susan Lim was given the Spirit of the Century Award by the people of Singapore, which was was given to her because she embodies the spirit of the sort of role model Singapore wants for it’s younger generations.
